    WADSWORTH - Everett Leon Keen-
    er passed away Tuesday, Sept. 28,
    1999, at Altercare of Wadsworth,
    where he had resided since 1995.
    He was born Aug. 22, 1900, in
    Oklahoma Indian Territory, to Ernest
    and Letha (Bain) Keener, moving to
    Wadsworth in 1918, where he met
    and, on April 23, 1921, married Opal
    Harter. Mr. Keener was a charter
    member and a past deacon of First
    Baptist Church of Rittman, of which his
    grandfather, James A. Bain, was a
    founding member. He retired from
    Midwest Rubber Reclaiming Co. of
    Barberton in 1966. Leon and his wife
    Opal enjoyed traveling throughout their
    lifetime together. He especially en-
    joyed recording their travels through
    photography. He was a loving hus-
    band, father, and grandfather. His
    quick smile and friendly demeanor
    endeared him to family and friends.
    His presence will be greatly missed.
    Preceded in death by his wife of 77
    years, Opal (1998); son, Leon Jr. (Ed);
    daughter, Jane Maynard; brother and
    sister-in-law, Carl and Pearl Keener,
    he is survived by daughter and son-in-
    law, Sue and Glenn Hershberger of
    Wadsworth; daughter-in-law, Donna
    (Keener) Donovan of Massillon; 11
    grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren,
    14 great-great-grandchildren, four
    stepgrandchildren, and several step
    great-great grandchildren.
    Psalm 64:10 The righteous shall be
    glad in the Lord and trust in Him; and
    all the upright in heart shall glory.
    The family will receive friends Thurs-
    day, 4 to 7 p.m., at the Hilliard Cox
    Mullaney Funeral Home, 174 N. Ly-
    man St., Wadsworth, where services
    will be held Friday, 11 a.m., Pastor
    Bret Deffenbaugh officiating. Interment
    at Woodlawn Cemetery. Contributions
    may be made to Tri County Hospice, or
    First Baptist Church, 19 W. Ohio Ave.,
    Rittman 44271.
